Nominees list for 62nd Filmfare Awards

The list of nominees for India’s most prestigious film awards, the Filmfare Awards is out. This will be the 62nd edition of the award which will held on 14th January 2017 in Mumbai. It was also announced that Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar will host the award show.

The list of nominees is dominated by Udta Punjab and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil with 9 nominations each closely followed by Sultan with 7 nominations.

This will be the first time in 19 years that all three Khans have been nominated in Best Actor category. Other actors in this category are Amitabh Bachchan (Pink), Ranbir Kapoor (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil), Shahid Kapoor (Udta Punjab) and Sushant Singh Rajput (MS Dhoni: The Untold Story).

The biggest surprise is that Akshay Kumar and his movies are overlooked. He has delivered some of hits of 2016 with movies like Airlift and Rustom but these movies failed to bag even a single nominations. More surprise as there is not even a mention of Dangal girls, debutants Fatima Sana Shaikh or Sanya Malhotra, under the debut section or supporting role section.
